Synopsis from Goodreads
Bull riding is all Gavin’s known for years, but when it’s time to retire, he can’t let go of the reckless lifestyle. He finds a job that brings him to a small-town Texas ranch and face-to-face with the woman who snuck out after their one-night stand.
She can pretend she’s over him, but he’s not letting her go that easily.
Maize Bishop spends her days cooking and baking for her family’s bed and breakfast. The last thing she has time for is a relationship, especially when there are no single men within a hundred-mile radius. When a mysterious newcomer flirts with her over drinks, she gives in to his mesmerizing green eyes and goes home with him.
Now that he works for her family’s ranch, she’ll avoid him at all costs.
There are only so many places to hide, and keeping her distance is easier said than done. After months of giving her space, Gavin’s tired of waiting for Maize to admit what he knows they both want—a second round between the sheets. It may only take eight seconds to win a championship, but he’ll prove to her that he can go all night long.
She’s too young, he’s too arrogant, and together, they’re electric—the perfect recipe for disaster.
**Wrangling the Cowboy is a complete standalone and can be read without reading any of the other books or series, but if you prefer to read in order, start with Hitching the Cowboy as the characters and families do interconnect.**
Wrangling the Cowboy is all sorts of adorable, although it is a little strange to witness a grown-up version of the little girl, Maize, we first encountered in Chasing Him falling in love.
I love the way all of the characters interconnect and weave together. Alongside the pleasure of catching up with all of the previous characters and their wonderfully huge family.
Maize is a wonderful cook and works in the family owned Bed and Breakfast. She is completely in control when she is in the kitchen, it is just the other areas of her life where her insecurities rise. Badly burned in a previous relationship, Maize is determined to avoid entanglements with cowboys at all costs.
Breaking her sacred rule for a smoking hot one night stand, Maize doesn’t expect to see the handsome cowboy again. Although fate has other plans in store when Gavin begins work with Jackson as a horse trainer.
Gavin has made a name for himself in the rodeo world as a champion bull rider. After so many years on the road, Gavin is ready to settle down in one place and put down roots. He hasn’t been able to get Maize out of his mind since their first encounter and is shocked when she pretends not to know him when they cross paths again.
There is no denying the connection and chemistry between Gavin and Maize, as much as Maize wishes she could. Gavin has his work cut out for him in proving to Maize that he is here to stay. I loved the way in which Gavin was able to chip away the ice around Maize’s heart in order to rekindle the flame burning between them. Unfortunately, things are never that simple and a new job opportunity for Gavin outs their fledgling relationship in danger.
There is only one way to find out if Gavin and Maize are able to overcome the obstacles that stand between them and their happily ever after – read Wrangling the Cowboy.
