Synopsis from Goodreads

“Hard pass.”
That’s what the last girl I slept with said when she got her first sober glimpse of me. She laughed, walked out of my penthouse—and I never saw her again. It doesn’t matter that I’m a rich, professional athlete; what mattered was my face. Beauty might only be skin deep for some—but I know better.

“Pay up.”
That’s what the last girl I spoke to said over the phone when I made her an offer she couldn’t refuse. Desperate to sell a set of rare baseball cards, she’s clever and entertaining. I’m instantly smitten, but nowhere ready to reveal myself. Thank god she has no idea who I am—or what I look like.
I’m a professional athlete–how hard can playing the love game be?

Review

Oh my, Noah is just so adorable and sweet. Although not traditionally handsome, he is striking in his own right, however, societies definition of beauty has resulted in Noah being subjected to derogatory commentary on his physical appearance which has resulted in a very negative self-image. It was interesting to see the portrayal of the impact of criticism on Noah’s self-esteem, especially as he is a professional athlete.

Hard Pass is a genuinely sweet romance which breaks through the characters emotional barriers and creates a new found confidence particularly where Noah is concerned.

Miranda is a dynamo and very self-aware, I admired her. Although she has some issues with her physical appearance, they are minor and on the whole she is determined to accept herself for who she is and it is that confidence and belief that make Miranda stunning in her own right.

I loved how Miranda and Noah interacted throughout Hard Pass with the flirty banter alongside their obliviousness. The most noticeable aspect of the plot was that (luckily) everyone has their own perception of beauty and what and who they are attracted to.

The peripheral characters were quirky and interesting leading into hooking the reader to the series from the very first book. I am certainly looking forward to finding out what is in store for Buzz!!!
