Synopsis from Goodreads
Let me just say — none of this was supposed to happen.
I didn’t expect the letter to go viral. I didn’t think anyone would figure out who Dear Sexy Ex was. And I especially never thought he would find out about it.
Yeah, bit of a miscalculation there.
But see, I need the money to fund my brand new venture. And Dear Sexy Ex, well, it turns out he needs me to save his business.
By becoming his fake fiancée.
Yup, that’s the pickle I find myself in — pretending to be madly in love with the charming, brilliant, and utterly infuriating man known as Dear Sexy Ex.
Only, it’s not an act. And he can never know.
Wow-what can I say, I should never, ever presume the plot for one of Lauren Blakely’s books because I NEVER get it right. Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend is no exception.
Best friends for most of their lives, Summer and Oliver are each others person and have been through momentous moments together both good and bad. So while they are emotionally bonded, it also means they are terrified of the niggling little bolts of lust they also experience and desperately try to smother them. Not wanting to lose the closest person they have in their lives.
Both Summer and Oliver have emotional baggage stemming from events in their lives, while they are aware of each other’s experiences, neither is fully aware of the impact it has had on their ability to form attachments. While navigating a strange situation and becoming internet sensations at the same time. Oliver and Summer are able to process their experiences in a new light and in the process gain a higher level of self-awareness.
I adore the way in which Lauren blends in fascinating insights into the setting of her book by providing the reader with fantastic ideas for dates within Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend. I also love the way in which Lauren seamlessly makes the reader so fully invested in the lives of her characters.
Just when I think Lauren can’t possibly top the previous books she has written she pulls extra swoon out of the bag and even tops it off with cream and a cherry.
