Synopsis from Goodreads

Nothing about being a librarian prepared Thuy Nguyen for such a wide variety of casseroles. Or life in a small town. Or becoming a farmer.

But what can she do when her catastrophe-prone best friend begs her for help? After all, Maddy has always been there for Thuy. It’s time to return the favor.

It’s simple really, all she has to do is: learn everything about farming ASAP, save her BBF’s family business from disaster, and avoid being caught staring at Maddy’s biker brother, and his muscles, and his smile, and his soulful, sexy eyes.

Oh yeah, and she should definitely not fall in love with him.

Easy, right? . . . Right.

Prose before Bros is a strange cross of characters with the focus on loyalty and what it should entail. Biker meets farmer meets librarian!!

In all honesty, I did struggle a little with Prose before Bros due to the motorcycle club being part of the 1%’ers. I hated how the Iron Wraiths were akin to a cult, praying on vulnerable young men by offering them a place they could feel safe in with the idea of family and brotherhood at the centre. When, in fact, they were isolating the members from any external force which may have influence to change their minds. Brainwashing at it’s finest. The ugly side of the motorcycle club was further expounded by Thuy’s background. Which added to the disconnect between the romance within the narrative.

Thuy is an interesting character, her loyalty and fierce determination are wonderful to witness. While her attempts at farming added hilarity to the story. While I adored the librarian abilities it did frustrate me at how easily she was able to secure a higher position within the library than those who had been there longer but didn’t have the qualification (why don’t they offer to sponsor the qualification – I may be projecting here)

It was interesting to learn more about Drill and see how his mindset altered with maturity. I liked watching the dynamic between all of the characters and not just Drill and Thuy. The main focus of Prose before Bros is Drill aka Teddy’s character development.

While Prose before Bros had its highlights, the Iron Wraiths and the angsty drama weren’t for me – remember reading is SUBJECTIVE.
