Review

In all honesty, it did take me a while to fully integrate myself into The King as the gap of a year between installments did not help with retaining the intricate details of the plot. That said, how can you not fall in love with Brighton and Caden, star-crossed lovers if ever there were such a couple.

My heart hurt for everything both Brighton and Caden have been through and have yet to face. Sometimes love isn’t enough when you have the entire future of a race resting on your shoulders.

Brighton grows into the warrior woman she has previously kept hidden, but there are a few details that have aided Brighton as a consequence of Caden saving her in The Prince. Her resilience and courage shone through the narrative, as did her loyalty and passion to those she loves.

Pieces of the plot slowly fit together creating both understanding and additional trials for both Caden and Brighton. Unfortunately, the evil fae is still intent on freeing The Queen which would lead to an apocalypse of sorts. It would seem they have unearthed more than one way to achieve their goals which place added pressure on the members of the order and the Summer Fae.

Twists and turns along with a fair bit of emotional torture for the reader, leave a sense of unbalance in The King – plus a truly major cliffhanger, how on earth are we supposed to wait until 2020 to see how it all plays out??????
