Synopsis from Goodreads
Years ago, they were in love. She was an up-and-coming superstar and he was the devilishly handsome security professional hired to keep her safe. They fell hard and fast, no matter how they tried to resist one another. But not everyone around them was happy about their relationship, and a string of lies and deceit destroyed what they once had.
Having just taken the helm of a nationally renowned protective services company, Kynan McGrath is looking to rebrand and revamp his career. The newly crowned Jameson Force Security is moving from the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas to the mountainous steel town of Pittsburgh, and the last thing Kynan has time for is to deal with his past.
More than a decade has passed since their split, but even a bruised and battered heart remembers its first love. So when Joslyn Meyers comes to him for help, Kynan reluctantly agrees to keep her safe from a terrifying stalker who keeps threatening her life.
As the danger they face continues to intensify, Kynan realizes he’ll stop at nothing to protect the woman who turned her back on him all those years ago. Because one thing is certain—no matter how hard he tries to convince himself otherwise, Joslyn still has his heart.
Sawyer has created an utterly compelling start to her new series focusing on the head of Jameson Force Security, Kynan.
Kynan is all male and all alpha with a bit of adrenaline junkie thrown into the mix, making him the cutting edge of handsome and deadly. Having left the military, Kynan is creating a whole new dynamic for the security firm he purchased from his best friend; with his training and connections, Kynan is delving into the world of black ops. To that end he is determined to hire the cream of the crop, whoever and where-ever they may be. We are introduced to a few of the major players in the series with hints as to the others that will be joining them in this stealth mission. Being of an age where Saturday night TV consisted of The A-Team, I couldn’t help but connect the image to the team Kynan is gathering. to call them a diverse crew would be an understatement.
Joslyn is a Hollywood A-lister, Kynan’s ex and has an extremely serious stalker problem. So serious it sends her flying to the only person she has ever truly felt safe with, Kynan.
Unfortunately, Kynan is holding onto the bitterness of their break-up and is a complete ass to Joslyn at the beginning of their reunion. It is obvious that there is more to their break-up than either of them suspected and the revelations are a turning point in both of their lives.
The passion still burns brightly between them and only grows the more time they spend together. I loved how their different temperaments blended together to bring out the best in each of them. 😁
There are a number of sharp twists and turns within the narrative so you can’t take anything at face value. Hats off to Sawyer for subtly inserting references to her other series within the narrative
Code Name: Genesis is a stellar start to the Jameson Force Security series with complex characters you can’t help but want to delve deeper into their psyche’s.
