Synopsis from Goodreads

Second chances are for kids, diets, and shelter pets—not for relationships. Especially not one like Chase and Emma’s.

Before he was writing chart-topping hits and smashing record sales, Chase Lawson was Emma’s childhood friend and first love. They promised each other forever, but forever expired at eighteen, when he landed a major record deal and left Emma and their hometown behind.

Ten years later, he shows up at their high school reunion with a proposition she can’t refuse. Six months. Seven figures. He gets a chance to clean up his reputation, and she gets the means to restore the old family farmhouse. It’s only for show—hold hands in public, kiss for the cameras—but boundaries blur behind closed doors.

It isn’t long before Emma feels her resolve slipping, crushed by the shadow of the boy she grew to love in the man selling out stadiums of present. Can Emma resist one of the most irresistible bachelors in the world? Or will she fall for the same man twice?

Fool Me Once shows Nicole William’s at her finest, doing what she does best and that is giving the world a good guy to fall in love with 💕

Fool Me Once is completely engaging and a perfect way to warm up with an abundance of feels.

Chase and Emma were high school sweethearts, although Chase has to contend with his family’s reputation while growing up. His only chance to escape the life and family he was born into was via his musical talent. Although the price was a steep one, trading his heart and losing Emma in return for fame and fortune.

Skip forward to the 10-year high school reunion where Emma has big dreams for rebuilding her family farm without the monetary means to fulfil them. While Chase has to rebuild his public reputation following a series of eventful mishaps. Cue a negotiation which places Emma and Chase in close proximity for the period of six months.

It is obvious the feelings Emma and Chase had for each other while in high school have to diminish although they may be dented and bruised. Getting to know the grown-up version of the person they fell in love with so long ago only serves to strengthen the bonds between them.

Unfortunately, their lifestyles are worlds apart and there is no easy way in which to mesh them together. Famous music star and hometown girl, the solution to forging an ongoing relationship is not straightforward, especially when Emma insists on living in the present with no mention of a future between them.

What happens when their arrangement comes to an end?

In true Nicole style, the reader is left desperately wanting to know what the future holds for Emma and Chase – seriously there needs to be an extended epilogue 🙏
