Synopsis from Goodreads

Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that — but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once…

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.

REVIEW

What is it about the Heartbreaker Bay series that makes me want to re-read each book whenever there is a new one added 😍😍

In Hot Winter Nights it is Molly’s turn to step into the spotlight. You may remember Molly as the smart-alec sister of Joe and sassy office manager for the security team owned by Archer; because of Molly’s connection to two of the main character within the series we already know quite a bit of her background story including how she got her limp and the struggles she and Joe had grown up with a veteran father suffering from PTSD.

Molly needs to feel as if she is making a difference, she is 100% career focused due to her insecurities where relationships are concerned following a number of incidents leaving her heart bruised and confidence in tatters. Determined to support herself and not be seen as weak, Molly is trying to get Archer to progress her career into that of an operative rather than purely support staff, However, Archer and Joe both have overprotective tendencies to overcome before they can consider Molly for a more active role within the company.

Approached by an elderly neighbour to look into a #badsanta provides Molly with the opportunity to prove herself while helping her neighbours. With Lucas on medically induced light work, he is assigned to ‘babysit’ Molly, although he has more confidence in her abilities than either Joe or Archer whose perceptions of Molly are clouded by their own experiences.

There have always been flickers of attraction between Molly and Lucas but their work situation and Lucas’ friendship with Joe have prevented them from acting up their desires. Forced into close proximity only serves to take those flickers and turn them into an inferno!!!

Unfortunately, Lucas and Molly’s emotional baggage prevent them from trusting their feelings and each other fully. It is only when their #badsanta case takes an unexpected and dangerous turn are they able to admit to themselves the depth of their emotions. They only have to get past #badsanta and the #naughtyelves to be able to confess their feelings to each other.

I loved learning more about Lucas throughout Hot Winter Nights and witness his transformation through his relationship with Molly  ❤💕💖 The whole gang from the Heartbreaker Bay series make an appearance through Hot Winter Nights maintaining the incredible connection to the series as a whole and allowing fans to follow the progression of each of the featured couples’ relationships. Jill has ingeniously laid the foundation for Caleb and Sadie’s story in Playing for Keeps. I am bracing myself for another series re-read after that in January 2019 😘
