Synopsis from Goodreads

He kept his salacious secret for years. But soon, everyone is going to be reading about it in their morning paper…

THE VARLET (and the VOYEUR)
William Moore is a long way from home. A farm boy from Oklahoma, he’s now the most well-respected member of the Irish rugby team. But appearances are often deceptive, and Will isn’t the clean-cut, all-American good-guy everyone imagines him to be. He’s got a secret, one that will tarnish his reputation forever.

THE VOYEUR (and the VARLET)
Josey Kavanagh is a self-proclaimed mess, but she’s finally getting her shi… uh, act together. She’s set her sights on becoming a veterinarian, but there’s one teeny tiny road bump. Her living arrangements are coming to an abrupt end, leaving Josey homeless and in need of a job to pay her way through college.

THE PLAN
What he needs is a companion to keep him on the right path.
What she needs is an apartment with free rent.
Will is convinced Josey will make the perfect companion, since she’s brutally honest and basically ‘just one of the guys.’ Josey is convinced she can ensure Will doesn’t succumb to his voyeuristic proclivities by keeping a scrupulous eye on him.
Except, what happens when the varlet is tempted by the voyeur, and vice-versa?!
Perchance something very, very volatile. And vexing.

The Varlet and the Voyeur is a full-length romantic comedy novel, can be read as a standalone, and is the 4th (and last) book in the USA TODAY bestselling Rugby Series.

REVIEW

Penny Reid and LH Cosway should write a comedy show, it would be a cross between Friends and The Big Bang Theory and I for one, would be glued to every episode.

The Varlet and the Voyeur is an unusual story with the best characters, seriously the quirkiest of the quirky make their appearance in the starring roles.

Josey, where do I start, is a friend of Eilish (The Cad and the Co-Ed) forced to fend for herself when her parents need to downsize and with very little options she imposes on Eilish’s hospitality driving Brian insane. Josey has a serious case of social awkwardness with a double dose of foot in mouth syndrome, which is absolutely hysterical within the dialogue. Very striking and a bit flaky, Josey has finally found her calling and is now studying to be a vet. While Josey is a classic nerd-girl, she is also generous to a fault and compassionate beyond measure. You can’t help but love her even when you think you might not be able to cope with her for extended periods of time lol.

Will, is extremely reserved and introverted, so basically the complete opposite to Josey. For me, Will appeared to have aspects of ASD needing to have order and control to maintain his anxiety levels. His lack of nurturing and female role models has left him floundering where relationships are concerned. His moral compass is a wonderful thing to witness and his decisions based on his morals act as a way of protecting himself from emotional entanglements which could lead to heartbreak. However, the media don’t exactly present Will’s choices in the best light requiring an image clean up in the process and the path that leads Josey to Will.

Acting as Will’s assistant and confidante in exchange for a place to live, Josey has to keep her hormones in check believing Will is out of her league. Little realizing Will is having the same fantasizes as Josey; for all their differences they balance each other perfectly.

The breaking point comes when there is a shower incident resulting in an agreement between Josey and Will with clear expectations and boundaries. Their lack of belief in themselves and their fear of rejection/abandonment prevents them both from being open and honest about the feelings they are both catching 😉 All the angst could have so easily been avoided with a clear path to HEA

I loved the inclusion of all of the previous characters throughout the Rugby series and being able to follow the progression of their lives and relationships 😍

I desperately hope there will be more from this writing partnership now that the Rugby series has come to a close 😢
