The late night text is random, but “Badass Athlete” sure seems to know who she is…
Lover of fluffy kitties and Star Wars.
His dare? Spend one night in his bed—a night he promises will be unforgettable—and she can solve the mystery of who he is.
She knows she shouldn’t, but what else is she going to do with her boring Valentine’s Day?
One sexy hook-up later, her mind is blown and the secret’s out.
The most talented football player in the country.
Just ask him.
Too bad for him Delaney’s sworn off dating athletes forever after her last heartbreak.
But Maverick wants more than one night and refuses to give up on winning Delaney’s heart. She isn’t one to be fazed by a set of broad shoulders.
Will the bad boy land the nerd girl or will the secrets they keep from each other separate them forever?
OMG I love Delaney, she is a super-cool nerdy girl who embraces here inner geek in a wonderfully flamboyant way. at no time does she compromise who she is for another person, I adored how in tune with her identity she was. Having been raised by her grandmother, Delaney is a little on the lonely side but she doesn’t seek companionship for the sake of it, she has the gift of being able to find genuinely kind people to associate with. To that end, you can be assured if Delaney doesn’t like someone there is a good reason behind it. (**cough** Muffin).
Maverick and Delaney meet at the beginning of their college careers during a bonfire which holds a special place in local legend as being where you will meet your true love if you share a kiss there!!!! Despite their immediate attraction and connection, Maverick and Delaney drift along separate paths until their final year. Maverick has matured a great deal over the past few years and has never forgotten the kiss he had with Delaney, although Maverick has a lot of personal difficulties to work through and Delaney has sworn off dating athletes, Maverick begins a covert operation to get Delaney to fall for him.
Although Maverick was a complete idiot, the hormonal, arrogant douche kind when he first met Delaney, his situation could be an excuse for his behaviour. Having shouldered a great deal of responsibility along with working through some of his issues has ensured Maverick has become a far better person for it. I loved how Maverick stealthily built up his connection to Delaney in more than one way. However, his family obligations and restrictions placed on athletes where money is concerned places Maverick and his budding relationship with Delaney in a precarious situation.
Both Maverick and Delaney have to learn to trust each other and allow one another to share their responsibilities if they hope to build a future together.
I adored the way in which Ilsa shows how relationships are a partnership where both the good and the bad are shared in order to support each other through whatever life throws at you ♥
