Synopsis from Goodreads

Loving her is the biggest fight of his life…

Home from the Marines, Noah Cortez has a secret he doesn’t want his oldest friend, Kristina Moore, to know. It kills him to push her away, especially when he’s noticing just how sexy and confident she’s become in his absence. But, angry and full of fight, he’s not the same man anymore either. Which is why Warrior Fight Club sounds so good.

Kristina loves teaching, but she wants more out of life. She wants Noah—the boy she’s crushed on and waited for. Except Noah is all man now—in ways both oh so good and troubling, too. Still, she wants who he’s become—every war-hardened inch. And when they finally stop fighting their attraction, it’s everything Kristina never dared hope for.

But Noah is secretly spiraling, and when he lashes out, it threatens what he and Kristina have found. The brotherhood of the fight club helps him confront his demons, but only Noah can convince the woman he loves that he’s finally ready to fight for everything.

Oh wow, Laura Kaye does tortured heroes unlike any other – prepare to have your heartstrings tugged with Fighting for Everything.

Our tortured hero in question is Noah Cortez, ex-marine who has been medically discharged, costing him part of his sight, part of his hearing and more than a little of his sanity. It is the mental health issues that Noah truly has problems coming to terms with. Take it from someone who has issues with anxiety and depression, it really is something that you have to convince yourself is an illness when society has previously deemed it as contrived and a weakness. Struggling to find his identity without the military defining him, Noah understandably has some anger issues with all he has lost. What he doesn’t count on is the changing dynamic between himself and his best friend, Kristina.

Kristina is a beautiful, compassionate person who values family and friends above all else. Having struggled with her own families mental health issues, Kristina would do anything to help her best friend get through this difficult time in his life. Unfortunately, this only serves to make undermine Noah’s confidence further. However, the brewing attraction between them catches Kristna by surprise, she has always loved Noah but it comes as a shock to realize that she not only loves Noah but is in love with him, no-one else has ever matched up to him and she has a feeling no-one ever will.

Unfortunately, Noah’s issues create a rift between them, negating 20 years of friendship and leaving bittersweet memories in its place. Without Kristina, Noah is adrift, attending an art therapy class for veterans opens Noah’s eyes to just how low he has become and with that the realization that he is not alone, others have been through what he is currently experiencing and can help guide Noah back into a better emotional position.

People come into our lives for a reason and this is made poignantly clear within Fighting for Everything. By attending the art therapy, Noah is introduced to Moses and a few other vets, who in turn introduce him to the Warrior Fight Club which helps Noah deal with his anger issues in a controlled, positive manner. I really do hope that there are such facilities in real life, what a wonderful way to connect with others and regain yourself in the process. This also introduces some colorful character into the mix who I would love to see developed further as the series progresses.

Noah is the only one who can help himself, but he is able to realize that it isn’t a flaw to ask for help. Luckily, Noah is able to understand the depth of his feelings for Kristina and endeavors to prove to her he is now aware that he does deserve her love ♥

I hope we get to see a lot more of Noah and Kristina as the series continues, they make such a wonderful couple, heart pitter-patter inducing romance ♥
