Synopsis from Goodreads

I couldn’t have scripted a more perfect night.

For one fantastic evening, at a masquerade party in the heart of Manhattan, I’m not the millionaire everyone wants a piece of. Fine—multimillionaire. But who’s counting all those commas? Not me, and not the most intriguing woman I’ve ever met, who happens to like dancing, witty banter, and hot, passionate up-against-the-wall sex as much as I do.

There’s no need for names or business cards. And that’s why I’m eager to get to know her more, since my mystery woman seems to like me for me, rather than for my huge…bank account.

Everything’s coming up aces. Until the next day when things get a little complicated. (Newsflash — a lot complicated.)

He’s charming, brilliant, an incredible lover, and right now I want to stab fate in the eyeballs.

I’ve had one goal I’ve been working toward, and lo and behold, my mystery man is the very person who stands between me and my dream job. A job I desperately need since my hard-knock life has nothing in common with his star-kissed one.

But it’s time to put that fairytale night behind me, and focus on learning what makes him tick. Too bad it turns out his quirks are my quirks, and his love affair with New York matches mine.

And as we spend our days together, I discover something else that feels like a cruel twist of fate — I’m falling for this naughty prince charming, and that’s not an ending I can write to our story.

I was so excited to see Dylan’s (The Stud Finder) twin brother, Flynn get his own story. Hot geeks for the win ♥

Flynn is understandably wary when entering a relationship due to his enormous *raises eyebrows* bank balance  😆 Having been badly burned in the past by a college crush looking to feather her nest cuckoo style, Flynn is reluctant to believe women are truly interested in him as a person as opposed to an ATM. Channeling his energy into his business and warding off the competition in the competitive technology market has kept Flynn’s barriers firmly in place. That is until a masquerade ball allows Flynn to connect with a sexy (investor) angel without any preconceived notions, the only thing fueling their encounter being the intense chemistry between them.

Elise is a journalist, although currently between projects due to down-sizing; Elise is determined to make the most of the masquerade ball she is attending as a means of networking. What Elise doesn’t count on is the mind-blowing encounter straight out of her dreams with a stealth start-up!!! Taking this as the beginning of a change in her fortune, Elise is resolved to put the misfortune of the last few months in the past, although she still carries the emotional scars.

As fate would have it, Elise is given an opportunity to prove her worth by writing an in-depth profile feature on none other than the delectable Flynn. Neither Elise nor Flynn realizing they are the real-life versions of the characters they played at the masquerade ball, adorably assigned the monikers of Angel and Duke.

With Elise’s career on the line, she has to control her attraction to Flynn in order to maintain a professional degree of impartiality in her article. However, the more time Flynn and Elise spend getting to know each other only adds to the growing emotions between them.

Flynn while initially pessimistic about his encounter with Elise upon his discovery of her assignment to him, is quick to realize Elise is nothing like any other woman he has previously encountered. Passionate and ethical in both her professional and personal life, Flynn also discovers how truly independent, compassionate and caring Elise is during the time they spend together. For the first time he wants to take care of someone and she won’t let him.

Alongside the rocky road to HEA for Elise and Flynn, Lauren weaves in amazing information about technology, maths, nature and the evolving platform of journalism. Tension is added to the plot by a very clever diversion into the competitive quality of journalism and the different approaches journalists use in order to achieve a scoop.

The icing on the Come As You Are cake is the inclusion of Dylan and Evie from The Stud Finder and being able to follow the progression of their relationship. SWOON
