Synopsis from Goodreads
A hard body. A dangerous past.
Meet Mr. February.
Reality-TV star and reformed bad boy Spencer Dean doesn’t trust women. Not after his fiancée, Brooke, left him at the altar five years ago, breaking his heart and hardening his soul.
Now, Brooke is close to a deal for her own show that will launch with the remodel of a popular Austin bar. The problem? The network insists that Spencer step in as her partner.
He’s tried to forget her—but he can’t deny that he still wants her. More than that, he wants to punish her. And so he agrees, but only on terms that are provocative, demanding, and wildly sensual.
It’s the perfect set-up for extracting revenge. But he doesn’t expect to fall for Brooke all over again…
Revenge never looked so hot.
**Hold On Tight is part of a binge read series by New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and #1 International bestselling author of the million copy Stark series, J. Kenner.
Each novel in the series is a STANDALONE romance with a guaranteed HEA!
But even so, you won’t want to miss any in the series. Because then you can answer the question…
Who’s Your Man of the Month?
Continuing with the renovations and cash-flow injection to The Fix; Spencer and Brooke take the spotlight as they bring their design talents and reality show backing to the proceedings. Although it is the tension between Brooke and Spencer that really steals the show 😉
Brooke and Spencer have a long history, their relationship through college hot and intense with promises of forever until Brooke broke both of their hearts when she walked away from their wedding. Although the couple had a divide in their backgrounds and economic status, their differences never impacted their relationship, until the manipulations of Brooke’s family put Brooke in a no-win situation.
I adored Brooke and admired her selflessness in forgoing her own happiness to ensure the stability of Spencer’s life even if he didn’t realize it at the time. Although Spencer tries to hold on to the negative feelings from his breakup with Brooke it is soon apparent neither of them has been able to let go of their feelings for the other.
Unfortunately, there have been additional traumatic events on both sides that add to the emotional barriers between them. However, it is Spencer’s lack of self-esteem and self-loathing that creates the biggest barrier to a complete reunion and pursuing their HEA.
While both characters develop within Hold on Tight it is Brooke’s courage to stand-up for her man and avoid further manipulation that really stands out within the narrative.
I love the way the seeds for the next story are cleverly woven into the plot and confirmed with the change of perspective in the epilogue. Cam’s story is one of my most anticipated since his introduction in Wicked Torture.
