Synopsis from Goodreads
Brotherhood. Club. Family.
They live and ride by their own rules.
These are the Raven Riders…
Wild with grief over the death of his wife, Sam “Slider” Evans merely lives for his two sons. Nothing holds his interest anymore—not even riding his bike or his membership in the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. But that all changes when he hires a new babysitter.
Recently freed from a bad situation by the Ravens, Cora Campbell is determined to bury the past. When Slider offers her a nanny position, she accepts, needing the security and time to figure out what she wants from life. Cora adores his sweet boys, but never expected the red-hot attraction to their brooding, sexy father. If only he would notice her…
Slider does see the beautiful, fun-loving woman he invited into his home. She makes him feel too much, and he both hates it and yearns for it. But when Cora witnesses something she shouldn’t have, the new lives they’ve only just discovered are threatened. Now Slider must claim—and protect—what’s his before it’s too late.
Slider has lost himself over the past couple of years following the loss of his wife – but not for the obvious reasons. the secrets he keeps fester within his subconscious creating distance between himself and the people closest to him – his ‘brothers’ The Raven Riders. The only light in his darkness has been his two boys but even with them, Slider feels as if he is only going through the motions, emotionally numb until Cora crashes into his life.
Cora escaped a horrific home life alongside Haven (Ride Hard) although no-one is aware of how terrible the demons Cora carries truly are. Cora’s kindness and compassion shine through the narrative, not dimming in the slightest from the trauma she has experienced. Her ability to retain these qualities is remarkable considering her emotionally abusive upbringing. Cora, understandably, harbors a lot of insecurities, feelings of unworth especially where a home and loving family are concerned. Although this is also her greatest dream – to be part of a loving family. Cora needs to be needed. Feeling adrift in her own life, Cora is looking for direction. While she finds her feet, Cora puts her talent with children to good use by helping Slider with his boys and carving a path into their hearts at the same time.
It is surprising how similar Cora and Slider’s issues are under the surface even though they originated in different ways. While there is always an underlying physical attraction between Slider and Cora it is the instinctual emotional connection that really shines through the narrative and melts your heart in the process. The time they spend together repairs pieces of themselves they weren’t aware were damaged ♥
I loved the brilliant progression of the other couples featured in the Raven Riders series, while, at the same time wanting each of the prominent members of the MC to have their own story and HEA.
Laura cleverly continues the thriller thread through all of the series adding on the sensitive topic of dogfighting and abandoned animals to the mix.
Ride Wild sees the conclusion of one aspect of the series serving to highlight the lengths the Raven Riders will go to protect their ‘family’, While making it clear that family is where you feel valued, safe and a sense of belonging whether you are related by blood or values.
I hope this doesn’t mean the end of the Raven Riders series as Meat, Pheonix and Jagger need their own stories!!!!!
