Synopsis from Goodreads

Logan Knight is a real life knight in shining armor. A detective godsend in a sleek black suit has me thinking less than secretive thoughts. Brooding and mysterious, he’s the kind of guy every girl instantly notices. Between his seductive smirk and charming good looks, it’s no wonder I can’t help the way he makes me feel whenever I’m near him. Too bad he’s unavailable—or so he says.

He thinks I’m a do-gooder who shouldn’t get involved with a guy like him. His past is messy and relationships just add to that. He insists the timing is all wrong and he’s devoted to his career, but I don’t buy that excuse for a second. I see the way his body tenses and his jaw ticks every time another guy is around me. He just won’t admit it, but I’m more determined than ever to show him what he’s missing.

I’m a devoted animal rescuer and I’ll risk everything to save them, but when a dramatic turn of events puts both our lives at risk, I’m positive Logan will write me off for good. But when he asks for my help with a personal crisis, I know it’s my last chance to finally show him I can handle anything he throws my way—messy past and all.

He might think he has me all figured out, but I’ll prove him wrong no matter what he thinks. This game of push and pull has me running in circles. One wrong move and we could both lose.

Checkmate, Knight.

Logan and Kayla have been skirting around the chemistry between them since their introduction at the beginning of the series. Despite the unique electricity they create when they are together Logan is determined to ignore what can only be viewed as inevitable.

Logan is ultimately a good guy with a lot of emotional baggage, denying himself the chance of happiness he could have with Kayla under the misguided belief that he isn’t good enough for her. Logan has a few secrets king beneath his chivalrous exterior, although they aren’t entirely what I expected. Instead of Logan’s mysterious private life diminishing his appeal the revelations served to endear him further. He is the ultimate good guy who has been shaped by some of the negative events in his life.

Kayla is the embodiment of an angel, she is determined to make a difference to humans and animals alike especially in helping them find a place to belong. Growing up in foster care, Kayla has allowed the experience to shape her in a positive manner when it would have been easier to close herself off she turned her painful background into a valuable tool to prevent others from experiencing the loneliness she endured. Even her chosen career of interior design stemmed from her desire to create a better environment for the people in it.

I loved seeing the relationship between Logan and Kayla develop through This is Dangerous as well as getting to know more about them and the events that have shaped them into the people they have become. Including uncovering their deepest secrets, it would seem that Logan isn’t the only one with skeletons in his closet!!!

Although the relationship between Logan and Kayla is the focal part of the plot there are a number of other factors at play within the narrative that keep the reader on their toes. What initially appear to be random plot points slowly begin to weave together as the story progresses making the reader question certain beliefs that have been inferred within the plot; adding a thriller element to the overall story.

As the plot weaves together the tension increases along with it until one incident leaves the reading reeling and also happens to be the point at which Kennedy Fox leaves This is Dangerous!!!! It really is a doozy of a cliffhanger and one I certainly didn’t see coming. This is Beautiful cannot come soon enough to clear up all those threads still left dangling!!!!
