Synopsis from Goodreads
Ryan Justice may be her boss, but nothing will stop him from making her his. USA TODAY and #1 ebook bestselling author Alexa Riley entices with a brand-new, full-length novel.
She thinks I’m perfect. A good boss, a good man. She thinks that I play by the rules.
She has no idea who I truly am. Why I’m really here.
Paige Turner is trying to outrun her past, but there it is, tossed back in her face anytime she manages to get two steps ahead.
She has no idea what a man like me will do to get what he wants.
Her need for Ryan got in the way of revenge, took her off course. Redirected her focus. Before she knew it, he’d made his way into her life. Into her heart.
I’m dirtier than she knows. She thinks I’m good to the core, but she doesn’t know the things I’ve done. The things I would do for her.
True love doesn’t let secrets as big as these stay buried. And when the truth about Paige’s father is finally exposed, Ryan will do anything to fix everything. Paige has always been his and his alone.
His Alone starts with Alexa Riley making the reader question everything they thought they knew about Ryan Justice!!!!
The story picks up shortly after the end of Everything for Her but with the switch in main characters to Ryan and Paige.
As a reader we got to know Ryan and Paige quite well as the peripheral characters in Everything for Her because of the major role they played in Miles and Mallory’s lives, especially as Paige is Miles’ sister and Mallory’s best friend. While His Alone is a dual narrative, it does focus more on Paige than Ryan, although we do get to know more about Ryan’s background I didn’t feel as if I got to know him deeply.
His Alone is more of a slow-burn romance than Alexa Riley’s previous stories but never fear the guilty pleasure elements we have come to know and love are still woven into the narrative 😉
Paige hasn’t had the easiest upbringing, unable to shake the memories of her past due to the blessing of an eidetic memory. Her memories fuel her desire for revenge on the person who hurt her the most, her father. Paige has only one mission in her life, to watch the man who murdered her mother suffer. An unfortunate repercussion in her quest for revenge is the lack of attachment she allows herself to believe others have for her. I really enjoyed how Ryan, Miles and Mallory carefully crack through Paige’s hardened shell.
Paige’s character development is the foundation of His Alone showing her growth and acceptance of herself and allowing herself to be loved and taken care of. I especially liked Paige’s fondness for food 😉
Loving someone unconditionally means you would do anything for them as Ryan proves in His Alone.
A terrific addition to the Alexa Riley collection.
