REVIEW

Although this is the second book in the series it is not essential to have read the first book although because of the nature of the plot it would be advantageous to – I’m still waiting for the ebook to go on sale 🙂

Satisfaction is Bran’s story, separated from the rest of his family following the death of his parents, Bran has experienced things no youngster should ever have to face. There are hints of the trauma he has faced through the narrative but it isn’t fully divulged for quite some time. These experiences have shaped Bran, leaving him with a hero complex especially for damsels in distress but also it has filled Bran will a deep level of self-loathing to the extent that he doesn’t consider himself worthy of normal relationships, even those of his siblings. I adored Bran and my heart ached for his suffering and his exceptionally distorted view of himself. He definitely needs a hug 🙂 Embroiled in his family’s quest for revenge and justice brings Bran crashing into Carly’s life, turning both of their worlds upside down.

Carly is a wonderful character, utterly sweet and kind even though she has experienced her own share of hardships, not least her marriage that was the result of clever manipulation by a con-artist, resulting in Carly being blackmailed by her conniving boos who also happens to be one of the prime suspects in the Lawless revenge scheme. Carly’s poor background has given her an appreciation of hard work alongside her own innate integrity and compassion. She is determined to protect her younger sister even if it means sacrificing her own future. Added thriller elements are woven into the plot adding tension due to her ex-husbands gambling debt that has made Carly a target of the mob.

Although Bran and Carly are brought together under treacherous circumstances, it is obvious they have a unique chemistry – hot, hot, hot – but more than that they bring out the best in each other, they fill in the gaps the other has had for far too long.

Bran’s feelings of inadequacy are the root of his problems and instead of finding the emotionally intimacy he desperately craves he punishes himself with random hook-ups. Although he is completely honest about his limitations, Carly is able to see past his barriers to the vulnerability and trauma underneath. Carly instinctively understands Bran, she is able to read his body language extremely well within a short period of time and is therefore, intuitive to his needs. I loved watching the relationship between Bran and Carly develop, especially the way in which they grew as individuals recognising their barriers and seeking to overcome them.

The thriller elements within the plot add to the tension in the narrative making the story both intense and gripping. There is a HUGE twist within the plot that has me absolutely desperate to find out what is going to happen next, plus I am shipping Drew and Shelby so hard. Alas we have to wait until June for Revenge to see if my shipping mojo works 😉
