Synopsis from Goodreads
Simon Danbury, an internationally sought after motivational speaker, helps women from all walks of life with love, self-esteem, dating and career building skills. Handsome, witty and wealthy, Simon seemingly has everything a man could want. But appearances can be deceiving. While Simon may have the answers for millions of women all over the world, when it comes to his own love life, he’s a giant, sexy mess. Divorced, and convinced that he’ll never love again, the very last thing he expects is one Charly Boudreaux.
Charly doesn’t want to be at this seminar in the middle of nowhere, but her sister made her go. She’s the one who has her life together. Great career, amazing family, nice home, and loyal friends. So what if she doesn’t have a man? She doesn’t need one. If she’s learned anything in her almost thirty years, it’s that men are more trouble than they’re worth. And they have a nasty habit of breaking your heart into a million tiny pieces. So she’ll sit through all of Simon’s touchy feely crap and go home and get on with her life. Except Simon isn’t really spouting crap, and when he smiles at her, the butterflies are ridiculous.
Never mixing business with pleasure, Simon finds Charly, a bright spot in a universe that’s been dark for too long. But will he be able to resist her? And why would he want to?
Kristen Proby never fails to provide the ultimate in heart warming, swoon worthy romance. Wonderful close-knit families and quirky friends add to the ‘feels’ within the narrative. I seriously adore the way this woman writes ♥
Charlotte (Charly) has been sent on a women’s retreat by her family, forcing her to take time for herself as her life revolves around her shoe shop (SWOON). Charly has a complicated personal life, waiting for fate to throw her into hte path of her one true love. A conversation from childhood with her deceased father has struck in her memory and controlled the way in which she has viewed relationships. With impossible expectations, Charly is currently settling for far less than she is worth. Although participating in the retreat opens her eyes to her emotional desires and gives her the determination to pursue her own happiness.
I absolutely loved the portrayal of the Women’s Retreat, helping women overcome emotional barriers, recognise their self-worth and instill the confidence they need to fulfill their dreams. If someone would like to send me to one of these I promise I will love you forever.
Simon is the smexy, motivational life coach running the retreat. I always wonder how you get to be a life coach, what a fabulous career, empowering women to pursue their dreams. Simon’s own experiences have enables him to relate to the women he help on a personal level; however, it also provides a lot of emotional baggage he seems unable to let go of, or is unaware of the repercussions it has on his present and future.
Both Simon and Charly are strong, independent individuals who balance each other. Unfortunately, their past experiences have cloud their judgement creating unnecessary emotional torment in the present.
The narrative shows being self-aware is the key to moving forward not only within a relationship but it also helps with the path to happiness. You have to be able to understand yourself before you can hope to understand others. Being open and honest with yourself as well as allowing others to share the negative emotions you may experience ensures you have a strong support system when required. Keeping events hidden due to embarrassment or fear of looking weak only adds to the barriers we have in place.
There are a number of paranormal elements within Easy Kisses adding to the plot, paving the way for the next book in the series. Beau you are not going to know what has hit you 😉 Not only has Kristen Proby laid the foundation for the next story she has simultaneously progressed all of the Boudreaux clan, keeping the connection we have already formed with this amazing family. The Boudreaux series not only has fairytales romances but it also has a fairytale family ♥
Anyone else want to become part of any of the families Kristen Proby portrays. Not just me then 😉
