Synopsis from Goodreads
Sean Phillips is a sexy as sin enigma.
The New York Mavericks star wide receiver.
His quick moves and sure hands extend way past the lines of the football field—and into the bedroom.
Sure of himself and sure of his life, Sean’s convinced he can handle anything. But when beautiful, pint-sized Six Malone delivers a challenge he’s never faced before, his certainty starts to waver.
Six Malone is a force to be reckoned with.
The popular YouCam vlogger Pick Six.
The chance to work with the Mavericks on an eight-episode vlog series is the opportunity of a lifetime, and Six knows it.
But after an interesting first encounter turns into a head-to-head battle with cocky football star Sean Phillips, her attention shifts—to keeping herself from falling in love.
Too bad spending time with the team is part of the job, and Sean has a flawless track record…of getting what he wants.
Pick Six: A term used when a quarterback throws an interception and a defensive player returns it for a touchdown, resulting in six points.
Pick(ing) Six: When a man-wh*ring baller meets his match.
Sean Phillips embodies the superstar athlete stereotype, the only thing Sean is is a relationship with is his career. His arrogant, overly-confident, some would say ‘cocky’ (not trademarked or copy-written) personality doesn’t prevent women from wanting him. What Sean really needs is for someone to dig below the surface and see his insecurities, he needs someone who is going to throw him off his game and into something real. What Sean doesn’t expect is to be completely blindsided by a small but mighty vlogger.
Six is as adorably quirky as her name would suggest. A pixie sized stunner with a giant personality. Six reminded me a lot of Rosie from The Virgin Romance Novelist without the naivety but with the hilarious inner monologues and curiosity, coupled with a sharp wit and even sharper defence mechanism. A football fan herself, Six is disheartened when she overhears her football crush, Sean, being a jock-hole about his ability to seduce her.
Cue some very funny situations devised by Six to let some hot air out of Sean’s over-inflated ego. However, the chemistry between them is undeniable and the inevitable is bound to happen. Although, Six’s ability to maintain control is something to behold.
I loved Six’s ability to switch things up, keeping Sean on his toes throughout and making him confront real emotions. Six manages to balance Sean’s ego and not lose herself in the process. While the fun and games continue, some very real feelings come into play which both Sean and Six have trouble admitting to themselves let alone each other, creating some very frustrating uncertainty within their budding relationship.
One of the highlights of this series is getting to reunite with some of Max Monroe’s favourite characters, Georgia, Cassie, Wes, etc. You just never know which of their characters is going to pop in for a cameo appearance ♥
Pick Six also manages to progress the relationship between Quinn and Cat from Wildcat while providing further background information on the other members of the mavericks ready for the other books in the series!!!!!
