Each book in the series is a STANDALONE novel with NO cliffhanger and a guaranteed HEA!
With each novel in the Man of the Month series, it can be a little confusing as to where the characters connect within the series. Saying that Julie does an amazing job of refreshing the memory and reconnecting the reader to the story as a whole within the first few pages.
Turn Me On focuses on Amanda, best friend to Jenna (Down On Me) as well as incredibly career-driven in her real estate profession. However, her previous relationship ended in abandonment and affected her career in the process, leaving Amanda with a lot of emotional baggage as a result. Adopting a ‘player’ persona to hide her emotional scars, she fuels the faux reputation in public while in reality, she is using the notoriety as a means of avoiding relationships.
Derek, on the other hand, is of the elite variety having been brought up in the rich and privileged lifestyle complete with expectations pertaining to the family hotel business. However, Derek had always felt undermined at every turn by his father when all he craves is validation for his hard work. Attempting to diversify into his own niche market within the conglomerate leads Derek to Austin and Amanda. The chemistry between them is tangible to all, resulting in a very passion fueled encounter. With Derek’s work and travel schedule he is only able to visit Austin once a month, an arrangement that lets Amanda concentrate on her career and still maintain her boundaries where relationships are concerned.
The more time they spend together, Derek realizes there is more to his relationship with Amanda than either of them expected. A traumatic experience with one of Derek’s friends causes Derek to re-evaluate his priorities and via a great deal of self-reflection gain perspective on his life that he had previously been lacking while trying to please his father. Now he just has to convince Amanda her fears are unnecessary with him ♥
Turn Me On covers a substantial time period crossing over from before the discovery of the financial problems of The Fix, through the first few contests allowing cameo appearances from the previous couples, moving onto the current contest for Mr. July. With the vast time frame, the pace within Turn Me On is intentionally speedy without missing out on the details, character development or connection to the characters.
There is an unexpected twist to Turn Me On that leads beautifully into the foundation for the next story, Shake It Up featuring Derek’s cop friend Landon!!!!!
