Synopsis from Goodreads
From #1 NYT bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a sexy new standalone romance!
The first time I met him, his sexy British accent almost talked me into giving him my number on the spot. The second time, he nearly charmed the panties off me with his wit. Then I learned he’s the key to success in my new job in Paris. The man who tempts me into fling-worthy dirty daydreams has turned out to be my personal translator, and his accent is the hottest thing I’ve ever heard.
My mantra is simple — Don’t mix business with pleasure. I do my best to resist him as he teaches me how to converse with my co-workers, navigate the metro and order the perfect bottle of wine at dinner. But I also figure out how to tell the charming and clever man what I most want to say — that I want him to take me back to his flat — tonight.
Except there’s a catch…
One more assignment before I take off on my big adventure…
And it involves the toughest work ever — resisting the fetching American woman I spend all my days with. But you know what they say about best intentions. Soon, we’re spending our nights tangled together, and I don’t want to let her go. The trouble is, my wanderlust is calling to me, and before we know it I’ll be traveling the globe to fulfill a promise I made long ago.
What could possibly go wrong with falling in love in Paris? Nothing…unless one of you is leaving.
Wanderlust is a feast for the senses. immersing the reader into Parisian live in all it’s glorious detail. From the colors, textures, sights, sounds, and feelings to the way in which the weather can enhance the moments that make the memories.
Joy is an American transplant relocating to Paris for her career as a chemist working within the cosmetic industry. Joy has always dreamed of visiting Paris but unfortunately, events have prevented her from following her dreams until now. Although being a tourist and actually living in another country are two very different things as Joy soon discovers, especially with the language and cultural differences.
Enter the delectable and British Griffin who rescues Joy from a pastry dilemma. The air takes on an electrical charge between the pair from the very first moment. However, fate has other plans for the dynamic duo when Griffin is hired as Joy’s translator by her new company. Putting their chemistry on the backburner, Joy and Griffin become fast friends with an easiness between they haven’t had with any of their previous relationships.
Griffin has his own reasons for being in Paris, fulfilling the wishes of his younger brother. Paris was only a stop gap on his way to wandering the globe, although the more time he spends with Joy the harder it becomes to stick to his initial plans.
I adored watching Joy transform from floundering fish in a new country to realizing her hopes and wishes as well as finding a once in a lifetime connection with Griffin. Woven into the narrative is the realization that plans and dreams aren’t written in stone and can evolve and change depending on the circumstances both good and bad.
Past experience has taught both Joy and Griffin the power of free will; it is for this reason and the feelings that they have for each other that Joy and Griffin refuse to influence each other’s decisions on the path of both of their futures especially when an unexpected opportunity arises.
Wanderlust feeds your imagination on all levels, richly descriptive bringing the imagery to life as if you were there with Joy and Griffin as they wander the streets of Paris and feast on the delectable treats as well as each other 😉 The romance between the pair only adds to the notion of Paris being the city of love ♥
