Synopsis from Goodreads
From New York Times Bestselling author, Kristen Proby, comes the first in an all-new trilogy in her beloved Big Sky Series!
Hannah Malone loves her new town. Despite living in Cunningham Falls for five years, she’s still considered a “move in” by most of the locals, and that doesn’t bother her in the least. She’s the “new girl”, and she hasn’t regretted it for one day. This town is her sanctuary. Her home. The one place she finally fits in and feels safe after a lifetime of being different and running from the memories and a past so far away it can’t haunt her anymore.
As the newly appointed police chief, Brad Hull has the responsibility to keep his citizens safe and to maintain order. His roots in this town are deep—five generations deep, to be exact. Cunningham Falls, Montana is his town, and being a cop and protecting what’s his is his passion. Everything’s running like clockwork until a sassy redheaded doctor moves in and disrupts the order—and Brad’s focus.
She’s not just beautiful, funny, and strong. Hannah’s everything he’s been looking for in a woman. The chemistry is undeniable, and the heat in the bedroom is off the charts. Brad knew the minute he met Hannah that she was the one for him. He’s tenacious in his pursuit of her. But when the past catches up with Hannah, will Brad be able to protect her and their hearts?
Charming Hannah is set in the same small town as Loving Cara, Seducing Lauren and Falling for Jillian, where our main characters were introduced into the periphery of the small town although they are key players within the community. Hannah being an ob/gyn and Brad the Chief of Police.
Brad and Hannah as you can imagine have devoted a lot of their time to their careers, high stress and long hours have meant they pushed their personal lives to the background and in all honesty, believed they were not destined to have the same sort of relationships they have witnessed their friends embarking on. Although they are in the unique position of being able to understand the demands of each other’s jobs. The attraction between them is combustible and sparks ignite between them leading them to a comfortable casual relationship. Or so they think, however, it is quickly apparent the feelings between them can only escalate.
Both Brad and Hannah have idiosyncracies due to events in their formative years. while the romance plays a large part in the story, it was Hannah’s battle with anxiety that really stood out for me as I have my own struggles with the irrational demon. Kristen’s realistic and poignant depiction of this affliction not only enabled me to relate to Hannah but also provided a sense of comfort in knowing that other people also experience similar issues, it made me feel less isolated if you will.
There are a lot of events within Charming Hannah showcasing the pressure Hannah and Brad face within their everyday lives while adding depth to the emotions between them. It also served the purpose of showing that you are unable to predict a specific trigger when it concerns matters of mental health. When Hannah is confronted with unpleasant past memories her reaction can be better understood.
I loved seeing the previous characters of the Love Under the Big Sky series and the progression of their relationships and lives. Kristen never fails to bring the swoon factor ♥
