Synopsis from Goodreads
I’m Vaughn Lair.
You might have heard of my rock star cousin, Jack.
I’m on the radio for entirely different reasons.
My voice may not cause women to swoon through music and lyrics…it’s the content of my syndicated radio show that has them desperate to talk to me.
I’m a sex therapist who doles out great advice.
My doctorate gives me license to hold nothing back.
My listeners have crowned me the King of Romance.
I change relationships for the better.
I’m the SEXpert.
The erotic shock jock.
The man with a plan.
Until one call on the air turns the tables on me.
A stranger suddenly has me questioning everything I thought I knew about myself.
And then an unexpected turn of events between my best friend and me only worsens my confusion.
I have all the answers, except when it comes to my own damn love life.
This man no longer has a plan.
This man is now the one needing advice.
This book is a contemporary stand-alone novel from the male pov meant for mature readers who are 18+. It contains explicit language and graphic sexual content.
Shock Jock is my first foray into the world of the Lair’s and I can honestly say it has now made me desperate to meet the rest of the extended family.
Vaughn is a trained psychologist, specialising in sex therapy. His hottie mchotterson good looks and panty-melting voice make him a natural for media work, however, the censorship laws for public radio have created more than a few problems for Vaughn leading him to take the opportunity to join a satellite radio station in New York. Even if this means uprooting his life and dragging his long suffering PA and best friend, Haven, along with him.
Vaughn’s transition to New York doesn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped, struggling to adjust to the different climate while navigating his own emotional issues as a result.
Meanwhile, the change in environment has the opposite effect on Haven, bringing her out of her shell and blossoming into the person she has always wanted to be. the side benefit of her growing confidence is the effect it has on Vaughn, who Haven has harboured more than friendly feelings for since their first meeting.
However, there are more obstacles in the way of Vaughn and Haven pursuing their fledgling feelings, with their lives so intricately entwined Haven questions how healthy their relationship really is. Add to that a mysterious caller who sparks Vaughn’s interest and something is bound to implode.
The romance is smexy but it is the character development including the way in which both Haven and Vaughn overcome their problems both individually and as a couple that really helps Shock Jock stand out.
Shock Jock is fast paced, emotional and hot and if you haven’t met the Lairs already you are going to want to track them down after reading this.
