Here’s a tip: never say never.
It all started in a barn, rolling around in the hay with a hot brunette. When I hooked up at my best friend’s wedding with the bride’s best friend, I had hay in places it should never be. And how my bowtie ended up around my dick was an entirely different story. I’ll give you a minute to consider the possibilities.
That first romp set the tone, and each sexual encounter with her that followed became more intense. The fact that all my fantastic orgasms were coming at the hand of one woman baffled me.
A lifetime of observation taught me that monogamy equated to boredom. Variety was the spice of life, in and out of the bedroom. I enjoyed the company of a sexy, smart, confident woman. It was my kryptonite. I was a master flirt, and my sexual skills were unrivaled.
With this woman, I had met my match.
Her carnal appetite a perfect match for mine, and she also taught me a few things along the way.
She called me Mr. Flirt, and could bring me to my knees at every turn.
Lesson learned: Sex always trumps sanity.
We briefly met Kyle and Vanessa in Finding Mr Wrong, as they are best friends with Jude and Brae. Even from their limited involvement during Finding Mr Wrong it was obvious that Kyle and Vanessa (Nessa) were like two peas in a pod, extroverted, often inappropriate and both avoiding commitment while embracing their sexuality. Clearly they were going to get together, how could they not.
It did take me a while to warm up to Kyle due to his blase attitude to relationships, although when he does fall he falls hard and takes you right along with him. Kyle tends to project a certain player image to counteract his nerdy scientist profession. He makes perfume, so how can that be considered nerdy?
Kyle and Nessa set the world on fire when they hook-up, ensuring more than one transgression. However, the more time they spend together the deeper the craving for each other. I really liked how Kyle was able to recognise the rare connection he shared with Nessa and embrace it. It was refreshing to see the male character accept the developments within their relationship while Vanessa struggled to break down her self imposed barriers.
The reasons for Vanessa’s reluctance to accept more than a casual fling are sporadically placed through the narrative, joining together to form a complete picture as to Nessa’s issues. My heart hurt for the emotional trauma she had suffered but also for the ramifications it continues to have on her life. It is as if the incident acted as a catalyst to derailing all of her plans and she hasn’t been able to get back on track since.
I loved the relationship between Kyle and Nessa especially as it transformed into something deeper. being with Kyle helped Vanessa in all aspects of her life and forced her deal with the emotions she has kept trapped for so long. The support they both get from their close group of friends adds to the overall emotion of the story.
It was fabulous to be able to catch up with Jude and Brae while Kyle and Nessa’s relationship developed, the plot also provided further insight into the other characters specifically Luce and Cassie, leading the way to Scoring Mr Romeo although I do think there will be a surprising turn of events for Luce 😉
