Synopsis from Goodreads
Her biggest fantasy is about to become a reality. . .
Jed West is Mr. Hockey. The captain of the NHL’s latest winning team, the Denver Hellions–and the hottest player on the ice—at least according to every magazine. . .and Breezy Angel. Breezy has been drooling over Jed at games for years, and he plays a starring role in her most toe-curling fantasies. But dirty dreams don’t come true, right?
Then Jed saunters through the doors of her library, a last minute special guest for a summer reading event, and not only is he drop dead gorgeous up close, his personality is straight up swoon-worthy. He even comes to the rescue when she has an R-rated “Super Book Worm” costume malfunction. But when he mistakenly assumes she’s more into books than pucks, she’s too flustered to correct his mistake. And then comes a big kiss, followed by a teensy-tiny problem. Jed’s dating policy is simple: Never date a fan.
So what’s a fangirl going to have to do to convince her ultimate crush that he’s become less of a perfect fantasy, and more like the perfect man. . .for her?
Lia Riley amps up the heat in Mister Hockey – prepare yourself Jed is going to melt more than your heart 😉
Jed has centred his entire life around his hockey career, although his current state of health has him questioning the direction of his future. When a meeting with a sports reporter, Neve, takes an unexpected turn into a guest appearance at the local library his future takes on a new direction with the introduction of an Amazonian Goddess by the name of Briana (Breezy) Angel, who also happens to be Neve’s younger sister.
Breezy is Jed’s number one fan having drooled over him for years while watching him play with the colourful female members of her family. Breezy is a children’s librarian, an adorable geek and utterly beautiful although she doesn’t see herself very clearly. Her self-confidence has recently taken a serious set-back with the break-up of her relationship compounded by her mothers constant criticism. Lia looks at the negative effect comparisons between siblings can have on them and the strain it places on a relationship between the siblings. Luckily, Neve and Breezy are very close and not affected by their mothers negativity in that manner.
Breezy and Jed have an instant attraction but also a connection they weren’t expecting or prepared for. Circumstances bring Breezy and Jed together but with Breezy determined to keep her fangirling and their budding relationship a secret it doesn’t provide a solid basis on which to build a lasting relationship.
Jed also has his own issues with his family especially his brother who has medical issues stemming from his own sports career. The narrative takes into consideration the topical issue of chronic traumatic encephalopathy in sports players – resulting in life altering repercussions affecting their mental health and even dementia in later life. Jed has to factor all of these issues into his future along with his feelings for Breezy.
The romance is electric in Mister Hockey but it is the character development that really shines through the pages. Both Jed and Breezy grow as individuals as well as a couple through Mister Hockey, While the path to true love does not run smoothly, it is obvious to the outside observer that Breezy and Jed belong together and deserve to create their own happily ever after.
Mister Hockey shows that the path you had laid out in front of you may not be the one you should be on but the future holds something even better in store ♥
Lia has paved the way for the next book in the series within the pages of Mister Hockey; HEAD COACH is coming November 2017!!!!
